Impact Mexico 2012

Karen and I have been invited to be a part of a mission team going to Mexico this June from our church (Fork Christian). We are excited to be able to go and be the "hands and feet of Christ". I went to Mexico in the summer of 1998 with a youth group from Mountain Christian Church. I have also been to the Dominican Republic with a team from Mountain in 2005. Though together we have travelled to Honduras three times to see our sponsored children those trips were not really "mission" type trips. This will be Karen's first opportunity to serve in this capacity and our first time that we can do this together. I am quite sure that I will be blogging about our adventures but for right now we have created a Facebook page to keep our friends and family updated. You can follow by clicking here Impact Mexico and go to our page and follow over the next few months. On that page we will keep you up to date with our plans and prayer requests. We have asked for both financial and prayer support for this trip. Many have encouraged us by helping us to meet our expenses. Others are covering us with prayer. This is especially important as Satan loves to try to mess with others when they are doing God's work. As a case in point since we decided to take this trip Karen has had to have work done on her shoulder. It was freezing up and she required mobilization of it under anesthesia. She is recovering nicely and should be fine by the trip. However you can see how the enemy likes to attack.

For now we will be keeping the Impact Mexico page as main source of information. There you will see what is currently going on. Once we are on the trip I will try to post snippets there but will also place links  on that page back to this site where I can journal our experiences. Thanks for the prayers and being with us on this journey. Blessings <><

Just wanted to share this picture today. The first from 2007 was the day we met our sponsored child Linda. That day changed our lives. Now we sponsor 5 children, 4 in Honduras and 1 in Haiti. The one on the left is when we celebrated her 15th birthday in Honduras last year. Blessings and remember sponsorship matters.

How about a free T-shirt?

This week Compassion has partnered with Sevenly! What is Sevenly you ask? They are an organization that partners with different charities on a weekly basis to promote various causes. In their own words they are "a cause activation platform" that promotes generosity and love toward others. Their mission statement is "to harness the power of art and community to build sustainable awareness and funding movements that support charities in their effort to change the world" In order to find out more I encourage you to go here and see their story.

This week there are two ways you can make a difference. The first is my favorite as you can get a free t-shirt and make the difference in a life of a child. Go to this link and sponsor a child in Rwanda. If you opt for having your payments placed on your credit card you will receive a special code that will allow you to go to the Sevenly site and get a free t-shirt. How cool is that?

If you are not ready to sponsor or already do and would still like to make a difference then there is a second option. Go to their site and buy a t-shirt yourself. Then they will donate $7 to Compassion specifically to purchase a malaria net for a child in Rwanda. It is a win-win either way!!!!

One final word though~this offers ends next Monday April 9th at 9:59 pst. You have plenty of time but don't wait. Make a difference today!
